Check the “Help” section of the game for the rules and reference them. Try each of the bets as you read about them. This is a visual game where you will learn better by doing rather than somebody telling you what to do.

Strategy and advice:

Craps is a dice game and when you hear this you might imagine medieval soldiers rolling dice and think that it is a simple game. The reality is not like that and in fact Carps is a somewhat sophisticated game where you can bet on series of rolls and sometimes a bet will win after a couple of rolls of the dice.

Before you start learning about Craps and trying out the game, make sure to note that Craps is a game of chance, but unlike Blackjack or Baccarat  it has worse winning odds when compared to those and less of a skill advantage. I am not an advocate of Craps. If you want to try a Dice game however this would be the one to try. We have all seen in the movies gamblers blowing in their dice for luck before shooting them on the Craps table, you can be cool like that.  I am not providing any strategy tips as I believe firmly the game is not one where you can win, so just play it for fun a little.

Basics -- Here's how the game works: a shooter rolls a number, then attempts to roll that number again before a 7 comes. That's it. Bottom line. Goal of the game. This is called the Pass Line bet, and is the standard bet in craps. Here's the nitty gritty:The first roll is called the Come Out Roll. Most people bet a small bet on the pass line during this roll. You've probably heard about this in movies or books. On the Come Out roll, a 7 or 11 wins even-money for any Pass Line bet. (These are called naturals.) A 2, 3, or 12 loses the Pass Line bet. (These are called craps.) If a natural or a crap is thrown, the bets are paid or lost and the next roll is a Come Out roll again. Otherwise, a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 was thrown and this is now the Point. The shooter's goal is to roll the point again before a 7. If he does, everyone gets paid on the pass line (even money or 1:1); this is called "Passing" or "Hitting the Point". If a 7 comes, everyone loses the pass line; call this the "Seven Out" or "Crap Out". If any other numbers come, it does not affect the pass line and another roll happens.If the shooter hits his point, he continues to roll, starting with a Come Out roll again. If he rolled the 7, the dice pass to the next player.Rolling --When it is your turn to roll, the dealer will put 5 or 6 dice in front of you. Continue until you crap out.Advanced tips - You can bet the pass line all day, but its rather boring if that's your only bet. Also, if a hot roll comes (someone rolling a long time without a 7), you won't be able to make much money. So lets talk about two more bets: odds and place bets.Odds --The Pass Line bet is great for the players on the Come Out roll. There are 8 ways to make a 7 or 11 (1-6, 6-1, 2-5, 5-2, 3-4, 4-3, 5-6, 6-5) and only 4 ways to roll a 2, 3, or 12 (1-1, 1-2, 2-1, 6-6). So the odds to win over lose are 2:1 and it pays more than 1:2! However, once a point is set (the 4,5,6,8,9,10), the odds swing heavily in favor of the house. So, the casino lets you "Take the Odds". What does this mean? The casino will let you bet some amount of money at TRUE ODDS. There is NO other bet in the casino that you can make with true odds. To bet odds, put some chips behind the pass line.This is paid at the same time as the pass line bet. So, if the point is hit - you get paid, if a 7 - you lose. Remember, this is paid true odds. So, a 4 or a 10 will pay 2:1 on this money (remember, the pass line is 1:1). This is because there are 3 ways to make a 4 and 6 ways to make a 7. Lets take an example of why this is useful. If you make a $10 pass line bet, and the shooter hits it, you are paid 1:1, or $10. If you make a $5 pass line bet, the shooter sets a point of 4, you make a $5 odds bet, and the shooter hits it, you are paid 1:1 on the pass line for $5 and 2:1 on the odds, $10. Thus, for the same size bet you made 50% more money.The casinos limit the amount of odds you can take, always in terms relative to the size of your pass line bet. Most Vegas casinos use the "3/4/5" strategy. This means you can take 5 times your pass line bet on a 6 or 8 point, 4 times on a 5 or 9, and 3 times the 4 and 10. Other casinos may always do 3x or always do 5x. The casinos in Tunica, MS do 100x (which can bring the house edge down below .01%, including the pass line bet).When choosing how much odds to place, remember how they pay. The 4 and 10 pay 2:1, so you can bet any amount and it will be doubled. The 5 and 9 pay 3:2. So, you need to bet in ANY even amount and you will get 3 chips for every 2. Finally, the 6 and 8 pay 6:5, so you need to bet in $5 increments. You can remember to bet in $5 increments to make this easy, except on the 5 and 9. Just remember: "bet even on the odds". (Since 5 and 9 are the only ones that require even numbered bets.)Place Bets -- The last bet we'll talk about is the place bet. These bets allow you to bet individually on any of the point bet numbers (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10). Typically, you bet on some of these, but not the one the point is. Furthermore, on the Come Out roll, these bets are OFF. While they are on the table, they don't count (unless you tell the dealers you want them to).So, after a point is set, choose the number you want to Place, and put how much you want to bet in the middle of the table. Tell the dealer what you'd like to do: "Place the 10 for $5 please". He will move it to a specific spot around the 10. If a 10 rolls, he will pay you. If a 7 rolls, he loses it. Be careful about betting too many. Any 7 will wipe them all out.These aren't paid as well as odds bets. Why? Because you're not giving the house the edge on the Pass Line bet (remember, that's the only reason you're allowed to do odds bets). They're paid slightly less. The 4 and 10 are paid 9:5 (instead of 2:1). The 5 and 9 are paid 7:5 (instead of 3:2). The 6 and the 8 are paid 7:6 (instead of 6:5). Don't worry about these for now. When you hit one of these, the dealer will pay you and hand you the chips. Pick them up and put them in your rail. Your bet will remain up and continue to be at risk for the next roll. You can tell the dealer to "take it down" if you wish. Or, if you're feeling risky, tell him to "Press it". He will take your winnings and double your bet. For example, if you make a $5 10 and hit it, then press it, you will have a $10 10 and $4 change. Thus, you now have a $10 bet for only $1 of your original money at risk. (Though, all $10 is yours!)
